Support for Facilities

The campus facilities where Brown students and faculty gather, build close relationships, and conduct groundbreaking research are as eclectic as the Brown community itself, with everything from time-honored brick and clapboard buildings to striking modern edifices. With support from the Campaign, Brown is implementing plans to renovate a number of historic facilities as well as to create new spaces where Brown’s students, faculty, and staff can meet, learn from each other, and forge a shared intellectual and cultural community.

Learning at Brown occurs not only in the classroom, but all over College Hill as well: in dorm rooms, in dining halls, on the Main Green, in extracurricular settings – the list goes on. After all, students are attracted to the University because of its holistic approach to education, one that does not confine the learning process solely to the traditional setting. The Campaign supports the improvement of existing facilities, such as classrooms, libraries, and the repurposing of Faunce House, as well as the development of new spaces, such as the cognitive and linguistic sciences building, a creative arts center, and the Friedman Study Center in the Sciences Library.
