Support for Research

Working across disciplines and in collaboration with graduate students and undergraduates, Brown faculty – both new and established – are making groundbreaking discoveries and significant contributions to fields as diverse as neurobiology, political anthropology, nanoscience, and contemporary literature. Distinguished new faculty members bring with them the expectation and promise of support for their ongoing and emerging scholarly and scientific interests.

The Campaign has already begun to expand Brown’s research enterprise and to invest in the graduate program in ways that strengthen the intellectual development of all students. Increased resources for research create a “virtuous cycle,” attracting ever better students and ever more distinguished faculty members, accelerating the flow of fresh ideas and perspectives across disciplinary boundaries, enhancing teaching, and elevating the University’s reputation on the world stage. The Campaign makes it possible for Brown to continue demonstrating how undergraduates can be a vital part of the research process, posing and answering some of the most sophisticated and fundamental questions of our time.
